40 Hours In New England by Matt on April 19, 2006 @ 6:34 PM

Normally I come on here and rant on about how "hectic" the past weekend was, or how quickly something went by, and frankly, this time will be no exception. I can take solace however, that this time it rings true. I arrived at my parent's house in Manchester at 2 a.m. Saturday morning and left my parent's house at 4 p.m. Sunday afternoon. During that time, I managed to get fitted for a tuxedo, attend 3/5 of a Fisher Cat's double-header baseball game (thanks Kristen!), rock out at Kerry's bonfire in Hooksett, bar hop to complete slosh (thanks Tom!) in Manchester, spend a night at Colin and Lori's new apartment, eat Easter Dinner with my family, see my Dad's new diggs in East Manch, and see V For Vendetta with Pa Dukes and Lora. Whew. When I got back to work on Monday, I felt like I had been out a week. And it was awesome. I can't wait to go back in July for Colin and Lori's wedding.

Here's some media for ya...

NHFD and other things... by Matt on April 12, 2006 @ 10:25 PM

Here's a link for all you (pre-2004) hopeless Red Sox fans. One of my favorite original Nintendo games as a kid was RBI Baseball. More specifically, RBI Baseball 3, but that's another story all together. Getting back to what I was saying... here is game 6 of the 1986 World Series re-enacted via RBI Baseball.

From the "Good things happen on good days department", we have the upcoming National High Five Day on April 20th. Check out the website here. I know I will be handing out a foolish amount of high fives on 4/20.

Nerd News 3.0 by John on April 12, 2006 @ 8:47 AM

After last week's power house of an article, some people were rather skeptical on if I could keep it up this week *cough* Matt *cough* well… too bad suckas! I got four articles for ya'll.

First up we got a cool new innovation from Engadget. It's basically a bionic eye that doctors hope will allow the blind to see. In essence, it links the human brain to a couple of cameras on a pair of glasses. As of now this is only designed for people who have lost their eyes and/or their optic nerves.

And now for some news on Linux, more specifically the Fedora Foundation...

Big Things by Matt on April 11, 2006 @ 9:19 AM

Something about the weather warming up makes me think of snowboarding videos. It's probably due to the fact that when I was younger I used to get myself so amped up for a new season by watching snow videos all summer long. There's nothing better than sitting in the heat dreaming about a new trick or some waist deep powder. Well except maybe one thing: when a good friend is in his own snowboarding flick.

We all know that our dear friend Tom, or T-Bird as he is known around the way, has been living the snowboard life for quite some time now. It looks like things are starting to heat up for T-Bird and the film company he is involved with, nbd films. Their video is due out in the fall of 2006, and you can check out the trailer from their website here.

Keep tabs on nbd films and T-Bird with their new link down on the right hand side in the "Friends" section. We can't wait for the vid, and wish Tom and his buddies all the best!

And What A Weekend It Was by Matt on April 10, 2006 @ 11:39 PM

Epic... That might be the only word to describe this past weekend. With a carefree attitude and a penchant for ending up in rather interesting situations, the Brothers Sullivan provided a highly entertaining weekend in Colorado's Eagle County. We started out by rocking Vail Village on Friday night; with stops at the venerable Vendetta's, Club 'O Whatsthename, and The George, there was no shortage of antics and classic barroom boasting.

Here are some pictures that I took during our stay in Edwards: (all pop in new window)

The wildlife in Edwards was pretty amazing. You start to no longer be impressed when you look outside and see deer all the time.
Not only am I not sure what is going on in this photo, but I have absolutely no recollection of taking it. Looks to be a good time though.
More animals... if only I had remembered the new water balloon slingshot. WTF.
This is the panoramic view from Kerry's porch. I spent waaay to much time on this this last night...

Nerd News 2.0 by John on April 3, 2006 @ 9:17 AM

Nerd News is back with the vengeance of a pubescent male who thinks that playing The Sims 2 will give him hints on how to get a girlfriend! I found a lot of shiat this week, some in the "WTF" category, and others that may make some people cry. But enough with the intro crap… ON WITH THE NERDY-NESS!

Let us first get the "WTF" out of the way. As most of you know, part of today's "pop-culture" is to see who can have the most god-awful, shiny, fucked-up rims on their car. Well I found some rims that will appeal to the Nerd Pimps out there or Nimps as they're called by the Homers… uh I mean Homies. These people put LEDs in their rims and wrote a program to get them to display any picture you want in the rim while they're spinning. I got two links of this one for you: One kinda explains about the rims and the other is actually a movie of them in action. And on a side note, this is the kind of link I used to send Matt over AIM everyday. This might explain why he no longer talks to me.

Next up… it's time for one of my favorite past times, Microsoft bashing!! So as some of you may know Windows Vista has been delayed until 2007. This apparently pissed off A LOT of Microsoft employees, who were screaming for a major restructure of the upper management, as reported by Slashdot. Also rumor has it that Vista is getting a 60% code rewrite, and anyone who knows programming knows this is a major pain in the ass! Engadget has this link for us, along with the standard Microshaft denial at the bottom of the page. Who to believe? We all know that Microshaft never lies to us!

Alright let's jump off the computer track for a second here. Space X, the first privately funded space agency, launched their first rocket and satellite. Unfortunately they did not have a very good engine test, as it exploded and destroyed the entire mission. Apparently NASA's job isn't so easy to do eh?

Alright one last non computer thing I found, rumors are going around that we may have a real holographic drive launching this year! It's just a next generation hard drive basically, storing information in a third dimensional space as opposed to the two dimensions that we have today.
