I've been treated well. Actually, I'll admit it... I've been spoiled rotten. The Patriots (despite their recent monumental defeat), and the Red Sox have been a New England sports fan's dream for the better part of the last decade
Despite all of my hometown fervor for the great american pastime and the gridiron gangs, my heart has alway been with basketball and the Boston Celtics. From my first game at the Boston Garden at 7 years old through my later years in high school and CYO, basketball has always been my true sports love.
Thus, it was with great excitement that I attended the Nuggets vs Celtics game in Denver last night. The evening was made possible by the best Mom in the world, and the seats were the best I have ever had the pleasure of sitting in. Check out the pictures below for a glimpse at section 128, row 3.
Dean Kamen is absolutely incredible. The man man who runs DEKA Research in the Manchester mills is back at it again. His most recent project is the "Luke Arm". Designed for people without arms (aka Irag war veterans.. see 2nd vid below), this prosthetic weighs less than eight pounds (including the battery), has twelve on-board processors and can be controlled by nerves, muscles, or foot pedals placed inside amputees' shoes. And did I mention they plan to wrap it in silicon rubber and paint it to match? Instructions to kill John Conner to follow.
Check out the Luke Arm demo video here. (video)
Also check out Dean's presentation on the TED website*. It describes his inspiration for the Luke Arm project, and totally excuses him for being incredibly aloof that time I served his table at the Outback Steakhouse in Bedford. ; )
