I've had a handful of highlights these past few days, not so much for myself, but for those around me. First off, my amazing sister Kate is finishing up her schooling in natural cookery, and it was culminated by a performance dinner that was "off the charts", as we say around here. All vegan, all delicious. Makes me want to reconsider the burger I had for dinner tonight. Wait no, that is a blatant untruthitude. To top it off my awesome sister Lora came to visit for ten beautiful days. We hit the Denver zoo, Banjo Billy's bus tour, the Boulder Creek Festival, the Boulder Cruiser Ride, Celestial Seasoning's factory tour, Watercourse in Denver, The H-G Ranch (thanks Jaden!), and Rocky Mountain National Park in Estes. Whew! Look for some pictures and perhaps a short video compilation in the near future.
For those that don't know the formula, here comes the funny. The majority of new entries here are sparked by something that catches my eye, so much so that I am compelled to share. Since I can't justify a new update on the value of a sole link, I usually ramble on about some recent stuff, typically involving weekly life in Boulder (see paragraph above).
Okay... thanks for sticking in! Amid the pile of shitty mail that somehow arrives undestroyed in my mailbox daily, there are amusing pieces that occasionally rise up. This is one such example. Look below and notice the letter at the very top of the pile.
With my favorite color combo blue and orange logo, it immediately caught my eye. Nice work gradteam! Then something else caught my eye. INSIDE: AN IMPORTANT MESSAGE FROM CONGRESS!
WTF? Some of you may accuse me of having a filthy mind, but I will stand by my assertation that only ONE thing comes to mind when I see this dual-hand gesture. Immature or not, one would be naive to think that the marketing people at good ol' gradteam didn't think this graphic would get some serious demographic attention. Fuck, it got me to open the envelope and then write a whole four paragraphs about it. On a serious note, would this be considered graphic pornography in sign language?
Bonus paragraph! For anyone who is deaf or knows a deaf person, it took me way too long to look up the ASL sign for intercourse, but I finally found it, and I will share it now.
Here is the direct link with video goodness (quicktime - super small).
And this is the website I got it from. Now get your sign on.
The Thursday Night Ride, or the Cruiser Bike Ride, is something that I have been an intermittent part of for three years. Basically a grass-roots campaign for fun, the CBR is a terrific way to spend your Thursday evening enjoying a spirited group of two-wheeled revelers on a trek that sometimes covers all of Boulder. For more information, check out the Cruiser Bike Ride website here.
More info is available here and here.
For access to the actual site, you have to register for just about everything, so it is pretty much only for those who are actually interested. Check out some pics we took last Thursday during Lora's inaugural CBR.
They are held against their will. They can develop severe neuroses and are at risk for complete mental breakdown, due in part to under stimulation and captivity. One look at the prisoner's faces will tell you all you need to know. All of this... in America!
That's right kids, it's time for another fun filled trip to the Denver Zoo! With my sister Lora in town, we decided a trip to the zoo would be good fun on a beautiful afternoon. What could be better than looking at WILD animals?! The facilities did not disappoint, despite the best attempts on the part of the caged participants. After being the near recipient of sprayed tiger waste, it took my most cat-like reflexes to avoid a hippopotamus pissing and spraying it with his tail. In another turn of good luck, I captured neither of these hilarious events in film. You can check out some of out photos I did get below (click for pop):
Once again good fortune has rained down upon us, and we have landed solidly in free-service world. That's right, we got the free cable back. After cancelling our Comc@st Intarweb Service 6000, we plugged the high speed cable wire into the back of out television, and wha-la! 27 free channels. Then last night, while messing with the TV setup, TV Scientist turned professional drinker Jaden changed the setting from "antenna" to "something else", and now we have the full lineup! No more kicking on the gAy side to watch shows! (with the exception of Sopranos on Sundays).
The real reason for this update is not television related however. A few posts back, I threw up a link to Amazon.com's product reviews of a new squirt gun called the "Oozinator Blaster". If you were among the quick, and actually managed to read these reviews before they were taken down, you know how hilarious they were. If, like many, you missed it entirely, you can now recapture some of the glory. The link below has some transcripts of the reviews that were dug up from an old Google cache page. Don't ask me how it works... I just know they found 'em. Enjoy!
The return of the update! In case you aren't from New England, or just haven't been following the national news, the entire Northeast is pretty much underwater. Thanks to a couple of friends, I now have some video of the flooding along the Merrimack River in Manchester, NH. In addition to the amatuer videos below, check out WMUR.com for a ton of floods pics and reports. Click the icon to launch the videos, and much thanks to Lori and Colin for the footage.
Due to majority rule, we recently shut off our high speed Internet access at the Five Hundo. Thus, postings will be sporadic for a bit until we get something new up and running. It's hard to post regularly from work, especially when I am trying to put up photos etc, not even to mention that I shouldn't be posting at work to begin with. However, some instances require immediate action, and this is one of those times. Check out the following link to Amazon.com. It's a link to a new squirt gun from our old pals at Super Soaker. The interesting part? Just read the product reviews. Thanks to Kym for the link!
