Nerd News 3.0 by John on April 12, 2006 @ 8:47 AM

After last week's power house of an article, some people were rather skeptical on if I could keep it up this week *cough* Matt *cough* well… too bad suckas! I got four articles for ya'll.

First up we got a cool new innovation from Engadget. It's basically a bionic eye that doctors hope will allow the blind to see. In essence, it links the human brain to a couple of cameras on a pair of glasses. As of now this is only designed for people who have lost their eyes and/or their optic nerves.

And now for some news on Linux, more specifically the Fedora Foundation. It appears that Red Hat is giving up on it. Apparently Max Spevack, the project leader, is no longer interested in running the project. However, Fedora may not be dead. Red Hat's gonna try and revive the Fedora Project Board which will have 5 Red Hat representatives, four members of the Fedora community, and a chairman appointed by Red Hat who will possess veto power. Is this good news for the Linux community, or not? Went to Slashdot for this one.

And now onto the important stuff! VIDEO GAMES! W00T! Alright my fellow nerdlings, first up we got some news on the new Nintendo console. As far as I can tell it is still named the Revolution. From the article the Rev will have an SD memory slot and a USB port for external drives. This is in addition to the 512MBs of internal flash memory. This is another step in virtually the opposite direction from Sony and Microsoft for their next generation consoles. They both have onboard hard drives, and it appears that Nintendo will not. I dunno, but I sure hope Nintendo knows what they're doing.

Finally we end on a happy note. Lucent is suing Microsoft and wants them to recall ALL XBOX 360s. Apparently they're saying Microsoft is infringing on their patent for MPEG2 decoder. I have to agree with Gamernode.com in thinking it's unlikely that they will pull all the 360s, but we can hope can't we? Hehe

Peace out my homies… I'll catch you next week!
