Our dear dear friend T-Bird recently contacted me with some exciting news. Besides relocating to SoCal to work as an intern at Snowboarder Magazine (I'm jealous!), he even has his own blog on their site. You can check it on their front page on the lower left under the heading "SnowBlog". The blog is called Tom's Thumbs, and you can check out his first two posts below. Click on through, leave a comment, and show the T-Man some love! Also look for a permanent link in the "Friends" section below on the right when I figure it out.

Just a quick note to drop this link on you. Ever notice how Harrison Ford keeps making the same movie over and over again? You aren't alone. Follow the link below to view a mashup video.
That's right kids... Dubz is back in town. The throwdown is going to be on Saturday night, in case you were wondering, so look for documentation of the debauchery in the coming days.
Remember that really awesome Sony ad I posted the link to a bit back? Of course you do, mostly because it was fucking fantastic. (In case you missed it, view it here). Well I stumbled onto a "making of" feature on Google Video. Good stuff. Check it out here.
One more vid for ya... remember when you would see music videos, good ones that would make you feel something? Music can have incredible power over emotions, and when paired with compelling visuals, it can be downright unforgettable. I found this video of Johnny Cash doing "Hurt" by NIN, and it brings me back to when music videos actually meant something. This was done just weeks before his death. Check it out.
As J-Jo and I were walking into the supermarket the other day, he had the great idea to grab a pumpkin so we could roast the seeds in the oven. The huge display of pumpkins at the entrance had no bearing on our decision whatsoever. Since this particular batch of pumpkin were being sold at 2 for $12,we bought one and picked out the most ridiculously large, but still attractive, pumpkin. And it was on.
The seeds turned out quite nicely, but I had other ideas in mind. You got it: carve that fucker up! I went the nostalgic route and purchased the trusty carving tools and booklet available at every supermarket since the beginning of time. Roll your mouse over the picture below to see the pumpkin in all of its dark glory. Happy early Halloween from the Five Hundo!
Two different items caught my attention tonight, both linked by their bleeding edge take concerning "the planetary machine", or the Internet, as us non-scientists call it. Both of these items had my mind working overtime this evening, when I should have been thinking about how I am going to entertain Miss E for four hours tomorrow. But I digress. First up is the SIMILE project. For all you acronym nerds out there, that stands for Semantic Interoperability of Metadata and Information in unLike Environments.
I know what you're thinking. Woah... easy now. But please bear with me.
If you have heard of Web 2.0 or any of this "new internet" buzz, you might just be fascinated by the work these cats are doing. I was originally drawn in by their Timeline app, but soon stated clicking around and found the Piggybank.

Up second, we have an article from Wired magazine. If you are interested in the future of the Internet and computing in general, you need to read this. Here's a quote:
BACK IN 1993, in a midnight email to me from his office at Sun Microsystems, CTO Eric Schmidt envisioned the future: "When the network becomes as fast as the processor, the computer hollows out and spreads across the network." His then-employer publicized this notion in a compact phrase: The network is the computer.
Had enough techno-babble? I thought so. Do yourself a favor and peep this video advertisement from Sony. Put aside your general mistrust of commercials, and just revel in the spectacle.

For those still hanging on to the warm weather and outdoor leisure, the shock of summer being over has officially been conquered here on Hapgood Street. And that means only one thing: the return of the front yard railslide. Thanks to their ice rink raiding skills, Tim and Jules brought back the annual late night Hapgood Jib Fest early this year. The initial setup turned out quite nice, with improvements sure to follow in the coming months. Check out a few highlights below. The new rollover-enlarge is in effect, so just roll your mouse over the picture to see it on a larger scale...
